Year 5 fires and flint 🔥

For our second session of Forest School we continued to talk about the safety aspects of Forest School which enables us to use the tools and fire. We played fire circle games as well as team games to access our Forest School site. Children were invited into the tool pit to whittle wood and help chop logs for the fire working alongside Mrs Armstrong who demonstrated the 'respect' position when using tools. All the children seem to love digging and making rivers and dams! There was some excellent team work and problem solving and some children tried out ideas of things they wanted to make and we used the loppers and sacatuers to cut pieces of wood to size. 

We ended our session reflecting one our experiences and discussing what we had enjoyed and learnt. We used our chopped wood to have a fire and even toasted marshmellows over the fire.
