Super scientists 👩🏽‍🔬

Some of Reception have taken part in an experiment to find out how penguins stay dry.

We each had a paper penguin and sprayed it with water, the children predicted that the water would soak in and make the paper "soggy" and it would rip ... they were right. We then each had another paper penguin, but this time we covered it in wax, we sprayed the paper with water again but this time the water didn't soak it, it was repelled by the wax. Much like the waxy substance penguins cover each of their feathers in to repel the water to stay dry.
