# Year 5 Maths Challenge

Date: 6th Oct 2016 @ 9:24pm

Here's a place where you can challenge yourself to complete some mathematical puzzles, problems or just calculations! The only rules I have are no calculators and try to work things out using methods you know from class.

Simply reply to the question thread (don't make a new post) with your answer and I will always post the first correct response I get.

Happy puzzling!

Sally's book is 92 pages long.
If she reads 7 pages a day, how long will it take her to finish the book?
Explain how you know.

You have to divide 92 by 7 which equals 13 r 1.This means she would read 91 pages of the book in 13 days for her to finish reading the book she will have to read it for a another one day which makes it 14 days for her to finish reading the 92 pages.

What can you tell me about the number 49,322?
Be as creative as you can with your maths because there are a lot of different maths facts you could use.

49,000+300+22=49,322
29,322+20,000=49,322
39,322+10,000=49,322

98,644 divided by 2= 49,322
147,966 divided by 3= 49,322
295,932 divided by 6= 49,322

24 661 x 2=49 322
4932.2 x 10=49 322
493.22 x 100=49 322

89,322- 40,000=49,322
99,322- 50,000=49,322
79,322- 30,000=49,322

10 x 400 x 10 + 10000 - 700 + 22 = 49322

Even though 9 and 3 are odd numbers the end number is even so it is a even number

400000÷10+9000+300+22=49322

Can you write a 2 step (or more) word problem for the rest of the class to solve?

John went to the store on black Friday to get some items that might have got their prices reduced. Before the black Friday's sales the Samsung Galaxy S7 costs £650.00 but on black Friday it was reduced by half price. John got two Samsung Galaxy S7 phones ,one for himself and the other for his friend. How much did John have to pay ?

If Lilly had 10 pound and she spent 2 pound lollie and 6 pongd magazine how much easier would she have left

This is to easy see give a harder one please
